Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Elitegroup Computer Systems has introduced the Liva. The DIY computer is only 190 grams and the size of a palm. The device can run Windows 8.1, the manufacturer says.

The exact dimensions of the mini PC are 11.8 x 7.0 x 5.6 centimeters. The Liva has 2GB DDR3L memory and a dual-core Intel Bay Trail-M processor with a clock frequency of up to 2GHz. The case offers no space for fans, but Elitegroup Computer Systems or ECS says they have developed a separate micro-architecture that should keep the CPU cool.

The computer, which has to be screwed together yourself and comes out of the box without an operating system, also offers 32GB emmc storage memory as standard. In terms of connectivity, there is support for 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. There are also outputs for USB 3.0, gigabit LAN and a 3.5 mm jack. Finally, HDMI and VGA outputs provide images. The energy comes from a micro-USB connection, but according to ECS can also be controlled with a power bank. The maximum consumption is 15 watts.

With the Liva, ECS is targeting users who are purchasing a computer for the first time. In addition, according to the manufacturer, the computer can be useful for those who want to have a second PC as a supplement, for example for streaming, browsing and downloading. The DIY computer can also be used to play media on a television. The Taiwanese manufacturer has not yet disclosed details about availability and price, but says it wants to supply the Liva at an ‘affordable price’.
