Early version CyanogenMod 13 coming out for OnePlus X

Owners of a OnePlus X can recently install the Android 6.0-based CyanogenMod 13 on their device. The first early version, a so-called nightly, has been put online by rom builder Cyanogen. It is likely that the software is not yet functioning stably.

The first version of CyanogenMod 13 for the OnePlus X appeared on the download pages of Cyanogen on Saturday. This allows users to install an alternative to the Oxygen OS developed by OnePlus itself. However, it will probably take a few months before a stable version is put online. However, the release of the nightly indicates that there will be ‘official’ support for the OnePlus X.

Where the OnePlus One was still pre-installed with software from Cyanogen, the Chinese smartphone maker has switched to its own Oxygen OS for its OnePlus X and OnePlus Two. Incidentally, both software packages are based on Android. The reason for the switch was that a disagreement had arisen between Cyanogen and OnePlus.

The OnePlus One has already received an update to version 13 of the Cyanogen software, although it has not yet reached everyone. In this case, it’s not about CyanogenMod, it’s about Cyanogen OS; that is the name that is used if the software is pre-installed on the relevant smartphone. CyanogenMod must be manually put on the smartphone, which in many cases requires unlocking the security first.
