Early alpha version of new Unreal Tournament appears online
A test version of the upcoming Unreal Tournament has been released. The game is based on early alpha code released by Epic Games and is accessible to anyone with a subscription to the Unreal Engine website.
Epic Games is working on a new Unreal Tournament game and is publishing the code to further develop the first person shooter with the development community. Based on very early source code, a developer has compiled a 64bit Windows version that is playable. It is an unofficial version that can be tested.
The test version of Unreal Tournament still contains almost empty levels. Despite this, gamers report that the gameplay, if any, strongly reminds them of previous titles in the Unreal Tournament series. The early build also gives an idea of the direction Epic Games wants to take with the new member of the Unreal franchise.
It is not possible for the regular gamer to change content or change parameters in this test build. This requires a so-called U4E license at Epic Games. However, mods, maps and mutators can be tested.
