The early version of Fear the Wolves, which was supposed to be available on July 18, has been postponed. Developer Vostok Games does not mention a new date yet, but speaks of a delay of several weeks. The game’s closed beta is still ongoing.

Vostok Games has decided not to make Fear the Wolves available yet based on feedback from the closed beta. A major update for that beta will be released on Wednesday, the developer says on Steam. Improvements are said to have been made based on player feedback. Tens of thousands of players are participating in the closed beta, according to Vostok Games.

The final release of the game is still planned for the summer of next year. The postponement of the early version has not changed that for the time being. The game is expected to eventually be available on consoles as well. The game is a spin-off of Stalker, the 2007 shooter set in the radioactively contaminated area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

Fear the Wolves is a battle royale game like PUBG and Fortnite, in which a hundred players compete against each other. In addition, the 25 square kilometer game world features dangerous, mutated creatures, dynamic weather conditions and a day-and-night cycle. Vostok Games also promises a second game mode, which would give an original twist to the genre, but details about that are not yet known.
