EA Shows First Gameplay Footage of Command & Conquer Remaster
EA has released a teaser of the Command & Conquer remaster. The short video shows a comparison of gameplay footage from the original and the remaster. Players can, among other things, zoom in and switch between original and HD view.
The short video shows a familiar C&C scene of battles around a Nod base. At the beginning, the original can be seen, but the camera quickly zooms in and the display changes to the HD version. According to the makers, players can switch between the original display of 320×200 pixels and the remaster version of up to 3840×2160 pixels at the push of a button.
Players can also zoom in themselves. The effective zoom distance is between the camera height of the original DOS version from 1995 and that of the C&C Gold rerelease for Windows 95, a year later. EA further emphasizes that this is a remaster and not a remake. The main aim was to maintain the authentic experience of the original.
EA announced a year ago that the RTS game would be remastered. Original developers of the series, along with Petroglyph Games and Lemon Sky Studios, use the source codes of C&C Tiberian Dawn and C&C Red Alert. Parts are reanimated and rendered in 2D, after which they are aligned frame by frame with the original rendering.
