EA releases new Star Wars titles and games in Assassin’s Creed style
EA comes with more Star Wars Battlefront titles as well as games in other genres based on the science fiction franchise. In addition, the former producer of Assassin’s Creed is working at the publisher on a game in the same action-style of that game.
EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen confirmed the arrival of new Star Wars games to GameSpot at the UBS Global Technology Conference in San Francisco. “We signed a licensing deal with Disney a few years ago that spans nearly a decade,” he said. “Our goal is to create future Battlefront and other style games around the Star Wars franchise.” He said that it concerns both mobile and console games as well as PC titles. It was already clear that the studio Visceral Games is working on Star Wars games, led by Uncharted director Amy Hennig.
Jade Raymond, the former Assassin’s Creed producer at Ubisoft, is also working on those Star Wars games at Visceral Games. She will also work on open world action games. “We haven’t really been active in the biggest gaming genre, the action genre,” Jorgensen said, “It’s the Assassin’s Creed-style games: more openworld, more single-player versus multiplayer.” He confirmed that Raymond has been hired to make an action game at a new studio in Montreal. Raymond left Ubisoft a year ago and announced he would join EA in July. She will collaborate with Bioware, among others, known for Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
