EA Reduces Required Credits to Unlock Characters in Battlefront II

EA Games has announced that it is reducing the in-game prices of certain characters, including Darth Vader, in Battlefront II. The reduction amounts to 75 percent. The decision follows major criticism of the cost of characters, aka heroes.

EA Games says that due to the reduction, fewer credits are needed to unlock a certain hero. Darth Vader used to cost 60,000 credits, which has now been reduced to 15,000. The reduction also applies to Luke Skywalker, Palpatine, Chewbacca, Iden and Leia. The company goes on to say that “there has been a lot of discussion” and that it will continue to make constant adjustments to the game, which comes out on November 17. The change will be implemented immediately, according to the publisher.

GameInformer reports that EA has simultaneously reduced the rewards for completing the campaign. For example, players only receive 5000 credits instead of 20,000, so that the price reduction has less effect. EA late know that this has to do with the fact that the reward at the end of the campaign is for purchasing Iden Versio. Because this hero has become cheaper, the campaign bonus has been reduced proportionally. Other rewards have not been adjusted.

EA’s post also references the discussion that has taken place in the Battlefront II subreddit. A response from the EA Games team to a thread from a user who was angry that he couldn’t play as Darth Vader after purchasing the Deluxe Edition resulted in a record number of downvotes. EA is announcing an ask-me-anything session on Reddit on Wednesday where players can ask their questions.

It is not the first time that EA has made changes to the game after criticism. For example, the company adjusted the operation of loot boxes after criticism that buying them can provide an advantage in the game. The in-game credits can be earned by playing the game, but collecting them takes time. With microtransactions, loot boxes can be purchased that can speed up that process, among other things.
