EA puts former Fight Night team on new UFC game

EA Sports has announced that an EA Canada development team will be working on its first official UFC game. The same development team was previously responsible for the publisher’s Fight Night games.

A month after the announcement at the E3 trade show that Electronic Arts had acquired the license to make UFC games, makes the publisher announces that the EA Sports Fighting Team will be responsible for the development of its first UFC game. Known for the Fight Night franchise, EA’s Canadian development team will be led by Dean Richards, who has also been responsible for NHL and SSX, among others, and creative director Brian Hayes.

EA Sports CEO Andrew Wilson and UFC boss Dana White announced during the presentation at the last E3 fair that the sports association had granted a license to the publisher. This brought an end to a series of successful UFC games released by competitor THQ and EA announced it will be releasing several UFC titles. The EA development team that will be working on the first title also only learned during the press conference that the UFC license had been secured.
