EA cancels Titanfall Legends single player game

Game publisher Electronic Arts has reportedly scrapped development of a first-person shooter set in the Titanfall and Apex Legends universe. The game had not been officially announced yet, but its existence had already become known through other means.

That reports Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier based on conversations with three anonymous sources “familiar with the matter.” About fifty developers worked on the game before work was halted. EA tries to find other positions for these people, but if that doesn’t work out, they’re said goodbye.

The game was internally codenamed TFL, which stands for Titanfall Legends. It would have become a single player game set in the universe of the above two games. The title’s director was Mohammad Alavi, who also worked on Titanfall, Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends. However, he left early in 2022.

EA had not yet officially announced the game, but its existence became clear, for example, from vacancies at the developer, Respawn Entertainment. It also showed in which universe it takes place and that it was a single player game.

EA has put an end to more things in recent days. For example, Battlefield Mobile and Apex Legends Mobile are no longer in development. EA expects sales for this quarter to be disappointing and is therefore already tightening its belt.
