‘EA cancels single-player game Titanfall Legends’

Game publisher Electronic Arts has reportedly scrapped development of a first-person shooter set in the Titanfall and Apex Legends universe. The game had not yet been officially announced, but its existence had already become known through other means.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports this based on conversations with three anonymous sources “familiar with the matter.” About fifty developers worked on the game before work was halted. EA is trying to find other positions for these people, but if that doesn’t work, they will be said goodbye.

The game was internally codenamed TFL, which stands for Titanfall Legends. It would have been a single-player game set in the universe of the above two games. The title’s director was Mohammad Alavi, who also worked on Titanfall, Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends. However, he left early in 2022.

EA had not yet officially announced the game, but its existence became clear from, for example, vacancies at the developer, Respawn Entertainment. It also showed in which universe it takes place and that it was a single-player game.

EA has put an end to more things in recent days. For example, Battlefield Mobile and Apex Legends Mobile are no longer in development. EA expects turnover for this quarter to be disappointing and is therefore tightening its belt.
