The number of unique players on Battlefield 1 was 50 percent higher in Q1 sales than Battlefield 4 in the comparable period. More than a third of players have never played the franchise before. EA reports this with the announcement of the quarterly figures.

EA speaks of the biggest Battlefield introduction to date. The company promises to bring more content such as armies and playing fields to Battlefield 1 after the arrival of the first expansion, They Shall Not Pass. That DLC will be released in March for Premium players. EA was able to report good results thanks to the success of Battlefield 1, but FIFA also contributed to this.

FIFA 17 was the world’s best-selling console title of 2016, the publisher claims. More than ten million players have played The Journey story mode, and FIFA Ultimate Team’s player count is up 10 percent from a year earlier.

EA had to admit that it sold fewer copies of Titanfall 2 than expected. This shooter was released a week after Battlefield 1, which critics say may have hurt sales. According to the publisher, players are very satisfied with the game and the sale is therefore expected to continue for a long time. EA promised to continue supporting the title for a long time with new maps, modes and updates.

EA’s quarterly revenue rose 7.4 percent to 1.4 billion dollars, or 1.3 billion euros. Digital sales now make up 60% of revenue.
