DVDFab is not going to support UHD Blu-ray ripping. The Chinese developer behind the software to rip movies from a DVD or Blu-ray has announced that it will not integrate the circumvention of the aacs 2.0 protection of the discs into the program.

Fengtao Software, the maker of DVDFab, has announced that it does not itself crack or circumvent the next generation of the Advanced Access Content System, nor does it support the decryption of protected UHD Blu-ray content with the software. The company will adhere to the regulations of the AACS-LA. The announcement was made in a press release that Myce publishes.

The Chinese developer calls it likely that the system will be cracked. The company points out that the discussion about the legality of backing up purchased films has been going on for decades and that the cracking of copy protection will continue for a while, but that Fengtao does not comply with aacs 2.0. participate.

The timing of the announcement is striking. Earlier this week, Slysoft, the company behind the copying software AnyDVD, ceased its activities, under pressure from the AACS-LA. Like the creator of AnyDVD, the company behind DVDFab has had frequent clashes with the film industry in the past.

With 2.0, the security of the aacs technology is significantly increased: if the key for decryption is not on the disk itself, an internet connection is required when playing a UHD Blu-ray movie for the first time. In order to run the full 4k resolution, players must have hdcp 2.2 and there will be functionality called Trusted Execution Environment for running authentication code, probably for an extended version of BD+, Myce wrote earlier based on documents from Sony Entertainment. .
