Duke Nukem 3D Remaster Coming To Celebrate 20th Anniversary
The official Duke Nukem website has a clock counting down to September 1. According to leaked information, a remaster of Duke Nukem 3D will be released on that date. The fps classic is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year.
The information about the game has been published on Reddit and in addition to screenshots, it also contains a logo in which the name Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour comes forward. According to the user who posted the files, the remaster is made by Nerve Software.
The screenshots show that not much has been adjusted to the appearance of the classic shooter. Although Duke Nukem 3D was the first 3D shooter in the series, the game also made extensive use of two-dimensional sprites. Those characteristic flat monsters return in the new version. However, a lot of new content would also be added to the game and the game may include a co-op mode and online deathmatch.
The clock on the official website is counting down to September 1. Whether the game will only be announced on that date, or whether it will be released immediately, is not clear. That date isn’t exactly the game’s twentieth anniversary. The shareware version of Duke Nukem 3D was released on January 29, 1996, and the full version was released on April 19 of the same year.
