Dropbox pulls file transfer service Transfer from beta

Dropbox is rolling out its file transfer service Transfer to all users. The service allows users to send one hundred megabytes of files that can be placed directly in Dropbox. Dropbox Professional users can send up to 100 gigabytes.

Users who send files through the service do so via a link that they can share with others. Recipients can download the files, but also put them directly in their own Dropbox account. Users with a free Dropbox account can only send 100MB of files, although Dropbox will only let you know when a user wants to upload more than that. If you have a Dropbox Professional account, you can send 100GB. It is then also possible to set a password and an expiration date for a link.

Dropbox has had Transfer in beta since earlier this year. It is now being rolled out to all users. With this rollout, the service will also receive a number of new features. For example, it is now also possible to use Transfer from the apps for the desktop and iOS app, instead of just the web app. Also, users can change the background of a transfer.
