Dropbox makes backup feature available to all users
Web storage service Dropbox has made the backup feature available to all users. In addition, paying users can store files with extra security and use a password manager developed by Dropbox.
Dropbox supports backing up multiple PCs, the help page says. At the time of writing, it says that the function is in beta, but it should be available to all users on Wednesday. Dropbox can thus make backups of important folders on the PC, such as Desktop and Documents.
In addition, paying users get the Vault feature, which provides additional security for files by means of a PIN, Dropbox says. In addition, previews of those files cannot be viewed without entering the PIN. The Vault is suitable for storing sensitive data such as passports, claims the web storage service. If malicious parties have access to the account, they will need the PIN to access those files. In addition, there will also be a password manager in Dropbox for paying users. The features should be available to users on the web and in the apps of the service on Wednesday.
