With the launch of Microsoft’s HD DVD drive and the bundled film King Kong, interested parties immediately had the opportunity to study the UDF 2.5 file format used for HD DVD discs. This resulted in a Windows driver that immediately turned out to be suitable for using the Xbox 360 expansion on a Windows computer. The driver can be installed with a single mouse click and only requires a system reboot. Once that is done, the HD DVD drive can be accessed from Windows and movies in the next-gen format can be played. More information about the project can be found in this news post. There is no changelog or release notes, but the readme document that comes with the driver reads as follows:

The Install:
Right click on “thdudf.inf” and choose Install from the list of menu options. once this is complete, you should reboot your machine for a full installation of the new UDF 2.5 File system recognition. From here your drive should no longer just say CD-ROM when examining it in windows.[break]Users who are not logged in can download the driver here to download.
