Intel has for the Windows 7-, 8.1- and 10platform released a new version of its Intel PROSet/Wireless set with 20.90.0 as the version number. This set contains drivers as well as a compact interface to set up wireless profiles, and also offers extensive statistics and troubleshooting options compared to Windows. This Intel PROSet/Wireless kit supports the Intel Wireless adapters type numbers 3160, 3165, 3168, 7260, 7265, 8260, 8265, 9260, 9461, 9462, 9560, 17265, 18260, and 18265.

Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software is recommended for end users, including home users and business customers who do not need advanced IT administrator tools.

Key Issues Fixed and Changes

• Windows stop error (BSOD) may occur during installation of driver version 20.80.0.X.
• Windows stop errors (BSOD) may occur while reboot, or during Sleep/Hibernate.
• Yellow bang might appear in Device Manager under Network Adapters -> Intel wireless adapter
• Unable to project to a second screen using Wireless Display (Miracast).
• Windows stop error (BSOD) may occur when using Mobile Hotspot.
• Limited connectivity messages when roaming after resume from Sleep.
• Windows stop error (BSOD) may occur when connecting to some repeaters on 5 GHz channels.
• When Intel PROSet/Wireless software is installed, system tray icon incorrectly shows a Red X or not connected status.
• The Cisco Compatible eXtensions (CCX) software is no longer supported from this version onwards. Upgrading to this version will remove the CCX functionality automatically if it was installed previously.
