Download Driver For Hercules Crystal Sound Cards 6.07

On the site of hardware manufacturer Hercules we find new drivers for the Crystal sound cards, which include the Fortissimo II, GTXP, Fortissimo III 7.1 and Digifire 7.1. These new drivers are available for download in two different flavors: version 6.07 comes with sound banks for better MIDI playback. Version 6.07a comes without the soundbanks and therefore the download is just over six megabytes in size. The release notes leave us with the following points and changes:

Note for Windows 98 SE users:
During the installation, you may be asked for the file “407.msg”. Simply direct the wizard to the folder C:Program fileshercules audioCrystal Sound cards, or the specific directory that you created if you chose not to accept the default.

• Registry cleaner (Remove Device.exe)

This little utility will allow Win 2K/ XP user to make sure their registry is cleaned if they have trouble installing their new drivers. It is provided as a tool and is NOT guaranteed to work for every case. The utility can be found in the drivers folder (C:Program fileshercules audioCrystal Sound cardsUtility) and is also available as a separate download.

• New DLS sound banks can’t be loaded under Win98 SE/ ME for all cards. The included default bank is fully functional
