Download Driver For Creative SoundBlaster X-FI 2.09.0007

Creative released new drivers for the SoundBlaster X-Fi family yesterday. The driver is just over 43MB in size and is only suitable for Windows XP, both the 32- and 64-bit version. In addition to some bug fixes, the release notes mention support for OpenAL 1.1, although it has been there since version 2.09.0001. The Open Audio Library was originally developed by Loki Software with the intention of making it easier to convert Windows games to Linux. After the demise of Loki, OpenAL was taken up by the open source community, with support mainly from Creative Labs and Apple. The full release notes for this version are as follows:

• Resolves an unresponsive computer issue when Cubase interacts with X-Fi applications
• Allows MidiSynth to sync properly with selected SoundFont content
• Resolves issues with OpenAL

• Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition or Windows XP Service Pack 2
• Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic, Platinum, Fatal1ty, or Elite Pro audio device

Comments:

• Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player is not available for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
