Dragon Quest XI is coming to PlayStation 4, 3DS and Nintendo NX
Publisher Square Enix has confirmed that Dragon Quest XI will not only be released for the PlayStation 4 and 3DS, but will also be playable on the NX, Nintendo’s new console. This makes it the first game known to be released for the new console.
Square Enix announced the new installment in the long-running Dragon Quest series at a press conference in Japan. The publisher did not reveal much about DQXI. The version for the PlayStation 4 is made with the Unreal Engine. It is unknown which version Square Enix uses. With the version for the 3DS, the publisher opts for both a modern and an old-fashioned look. The top 3D screen of the handheld shows a three-dimensional image. The bottom touch-sensitive screen features a two-dimensional sprites-based isometric image reminiscent of the first games in the series. The game should be released in 2016.
According to Square Enix, Dragon Quest XI will also be released for the NX, Nintendo’s new console. The Japanese company announced in March that it was working on a new console, known internally under the working title NX. The NX should hit the market in 2016. Apart from the working title, nothing is known about the device.
