Writer David Gaider is leaving Bioware after 17 years, he tweeted. Gaider worked on games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It is not yet clear where he will now work.

Gaider further informs Polygon that it is his own choice to leave the company after a long time. There would have been no conflict, he would have needed a new challenge. He does not want to say where he is going now, he will announce that at a later date.

The Canadian writer joined Bioware in 1999 with Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn. In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, he was responsible for well-known characters such as HK-47. He also had a large part in the Neverwinter Nights series. In 2014, he wrote a blog post, in which he shared his experiences of working as a gay man in the game industry.
