Doom Eternal has been postponed to March 20, 2020 and Switch version coming even later
Bethesda and id Software postpone Doom Eternal by four months. The game will no longer be released on November 22, but will be released on March 20 next year. The version for the Nintendo Switch will come later, when is not yet known.
Initially, Doom Eternal was supposed to release for all platforms on November 22, but that is no longer the case. The versions for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows and Google Stadia will be released on March 20, and the Nintendo Switch version will be released sometime after that. The release date of that variant will be announced later, reports the developer on Twitter.
Id Software states that more time is needed to “ensure gamers get the best experience.” The developer wants the game to meet its standard “in terms of speed and finish”. The developer also announces that the Invasion Mode will be released as a free update ‘shortly after release’.
id Software also announces that Doom 64 is also coming to PC and Xbox One. It was already clear that that old game would be re-released for the Switch and the PlayStation 4. Gamers who pre-order Doom Eternal will also receive Doom 64. The game will be released simultaneously with Doom Eternal on March 20, 2020 on all platforms.
