Disney revives Lucasfilm Games brand for Star Wars gamesgame
Disney has revived the Lucasfilm Games brand. All upcoming Star Wars games will be under that brand. Lucasfilm Games is collaborating on games with various studios.
Whether the founding of Lucasfilm Games changes anything to the Star Wars license that publisher EA currently has is not yet known. In a YouTube video, Disney shows images from all kinds of recent Star Wars games, including the titles of EA, under the name Lucasfilm Games.
In the announcement, Disney writes that Lucasfilm Games is the denominator that all Star Wars games will henceforth fall under and those games will be provided with the corresponding logo. As far as is known, it does not appear that a new studio has been established. Disney reports that Lucasfilm Games is collaborating with several studios.
Lucasfilm Games was founded in 1982 by Star Wars creator George Lucas. The division not only made classic Star Wars games such as X-Wing and Jedi Knight, but also the adventure games The Secret of Monkey Island, Loom, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Day of the Tentacle. In 1990 the name was changed to LucasArts. When Disney acquired Lucasfilm in its entirety in 2012, LucasArts was discontinued and game development was transferred to other publishers, such as EA.
Disney refers to new Twitterand Lucasfilm Games Facebook accounts. More information about Star Wars games should appear on it in the future.
