Disney releases final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Disney and Lucasfilm have released the final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This film follows Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is the third title in the new trilogy that started in 2015 and concludes the saga. The Rise of Skywalker comes out on December 18.
The upcoming Star Wars movie takes place a year after the events of The Last Jedi, as the Resistance once again face the First Order. Previously, co-author Chris Terrio already announced that the film includes the complex bond between Rey and Kylo Ren, with the former being able to walk a slightly darker path in view of the trailer. Furthermore, the voice of Palpatine can be heard.
An earlier teaser from April already showed that quite a few of the familiar faces from the two previous films are in The Rise of Skywalker, but also the actor Billy Dee Williams. He returns to play the character Lando Calrissian, known from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The late Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in previous films, will also star in the new film, through footage shot during The Force Awakens. Her voice can also be heard in the current trailer.
The makers of the film say that the saga will come to an end with The Rise of Skywalker, but that doesn’t automatically mean that there will be no more Star Wars film or content after this, partly because a number of spin-off films have already been released. were made, namely Rogue One and Solo. The Star Wars series The Mandalorian will also be released on Disney+ on November 12. A live action series will also be released on this streaming service about the agent Cassian Andor, who in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as a member of the Rebel Alliance, went on a mission to obtain the plans to build the Death Star. Disney+ is also getting a series about Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor; the shooting for this will start next year.
