Disney + is getting more expensive (but there is also good news)
A subscription to Disney + will become more expensive from February 23, 2021. Instead of 6.99 euros you pay 8.99 euros a month for the streaming service, an increase of 29 percent. But you will get more in return.
Disney + is getting more expensive
The announcement was made during Disney Investor Day 2020, during which the company announced a new division for Disney +: Star. From 23 February, new films, series and documentaries that are intended for adults can be seen here.
The section is password protected if desired, so that adult and child content is separated. Furthermore, it can be viewed on four devices at the same time – just like with Netflix. The content can be viewed (if available) in 4K Ultra HD.
It is not yet known which titles we can expect exactly. It is clear that with Star you can watch films and series from multiple Disney brands, such as ABC, 20th Century Studios, FX and Freeform. With that, Disney + seems to be competing more seriously with Netflix.
Are you a fan and do you want to remain a Disney + subscriber for the time being? Then it may be smart to take out an annual subscription now. This costs now € 69.99, but that price will undoubtedly be increased soon.
Netflix
In October, competitor Netflix already announced a price increase for the United States. Both the prices for the standard and premium plan are getting more expensive there. Standard goes from $ 12.99 to $ 13.99 and the premium plan costs $ 19.99 instead of $ 15.99
In recent years, a price increase in the US quickly impacted the price of Netflix in Europe.
