Disney+ comes in 2023 with cheaper subscription that contains ads
Disney will introduce a cheaper subscription for its streaming service Disney+ in 2023. The new subscription formula will contain advertisements and, according to the company, should help attract even more subscribers. American interested parties can sign up at the end of this year.
The company does not state a cost price in the published press release, but does state that it wants to introduce the new cheaper subscription formula in the United States at the end of this year. International markets will follow in 2023, according to Disney, although it is not yet clear which countries will be covered first.
With this new subscription formula, Disney wants to persuade even more people to subscribe to the streaming service. The company aims to have between 230 and 260 million Disney+ subscribers by fiscal year 2024. At the beginning of this year, it was announced that Disney+ has approximately 129.8 million subscribers. During that last quarter, according to Disney, 11.8 million subscribers were added.
