Discord Releases Background Noise Canceling Feature in Beta
Discord has started offering a call background noise canceling feature through its service. The beta works with the technology of the company Krisp.ai and should filter out sounds like vacuum cleaners.
The technology works in all chats with audio, including video chats. The feature is on for all desktop users, Discord says. Support is also coming for the chat service’s mobile app, but it is still pending.
The option is under App Settings-Voice and Video-Advanced and is called, in English, Noise Supression Beta. Sounds of a vacuum cleaner, a door slamming shut, a bag of chips that someone opens and other background noises should no longer be heard thanks to the technology.
Discord is partnering with Krisp.ai for the feature, which has long been making a background noise canceling app for Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, and mobile platforms. Discord says the technology only works on the device and Krisp.ai doesn’t get any data from Discord users’ devices.
