Discord lets users post text messages in voice chat
Discord is rolling out a new feature. This provides voice channels with a text chat frame. This makes it easier for users to share links and GIFs with their peers, among other things. The feature should be available June 29 for all Discord servers.
Currently, voice channel users in Discord can only post text messages in text channels. Once the feature is added, users will be able to post in a chat window within the voice channel itself. They can share links, messages, emojis, GIFs, and stickers. Users who don’t want to join the voice channel can still view a channel’s shared text and links. This can be done by selecting the chat icon in the header of the voice channel.
Discord writes that mods and server owners can control which voice channels get a text chat window and who can use the feature. Also, mods can control what server members can and cannot post. The feature should be available worldwide on June 29. Discord servers that do not have community features will automatically enable the feature. However, community servers must manually enable the feature. This can be done in the server settings under the heading ‘Community’.
