Discord is laying off four percent of its staff
Chat service Discord has laid off four percent of its staff. A company spokesperson confirmed this to Insider. The round of layoffs amounts to approximately 40 people, the news outlet reports.
A spokesperson for Discord tells Insider that ‘approximately four percent’ of staff have been made redundant as part of a reorganization of ‘a number of business units’. The layoffs are said to have mainly occurred in the company’s marketing team, although employees from its graphic design and entertainment collaboration departments have also been affected.
According to figures from The New York Times Discord had more than 900 employees around April 2023. The layoffs would have affected almost 40 employees. An insider also told Insider that around 40 employees have been laid off, although the company did not provide a specific number in its official statement.
