Discord is laying off 17 percent of its staff
Discord is laying off 17 percent of its staff. It concerns 170 people. The company has increased its number of employees fivefold in recent years.
Discord is not doing badly financially, but the intervention is necessary to ‘sharpen the focus’, writes director Jason Citron in a memo published by The Verge. “We grew quickly and expanded our workforce even faster, increasing five times since 2020. As a result, we took on more projects and became less efficient in the way we work,” Citron said. Discord already fired 4 percent of its staff in August.
