DigiTimes: AMD Threadripper 8000 series will be released in 2025
AMD will release its Ryzen Threadripper 8000 series in 2025. DigiTimes writes this. The chip was internally called Shimanda Peak and will use the Zen 5 architecture. The CPU cores would be built on a 4nm process, the I/O dies on a 6nm process.
The American company will also launch its Ryzen 8000 CPUs for desktops in 2024. This processor line came from AMD according to DigiTimes codenamed Granite Ridge and would use the Zen 5 architecture. The CPU cores of the Ryzen 8000 are reportedly built on a 4nm process, the I/O dies on a 6nm process. AMD previously said that these chips would be built on a 4nm, and later on a 3nm, process.
In 2025, AMD would also introduce the next generation of EPYC server chips. These chips will reportedly be baked using a 3nm process. The first chips with a Zen 6 architecture would follow in 2026. These chips would be baked using a 2nm process. AMD has not yet officially responded to the news.
Update, 3:30 PM: The original article stated that the Threadripper and Ryzen 8000 series will be built on a 4nm or a 6nm process. This has been adjusted to 4nm for the CPU cores and 6nm for the I/O die.
