Digital version of Forza Motorsport 7 will no longer be available for purchase from September 15
The digital version of Forza Motorsport 7 will no longer be available for purchase starting September 15. The game will therefore disappear from the Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft is stopping sales due to expiring license agreements. Current owners of the game can continue to play.
As of September 15, Forza Motorsport 7 will receive End of Life status, writes Microsoft. The game and all DLC will then no longer be available for purchase in the Microsoft Store. Old stock of physical copies can still be purchased and played. Gamers who bought the game online will also be able to download it from the Microsoft Store after September. On Twitter late informed the Forza Motorsport account that the game is going off the digital shelves due to expiring licensing agreements.
Multiplayer and other online services of the game will also remain available after September; Microsoft will also continue to provide Rivals with additional races. Xbox Game Pass players who purchased DLC for Motorsport 7, but never purchased the game itself, will receive a token for Motorsport 7 through the Xbox Message Center. These tokens will be released on August 2.
Microsoft’s stopping sales of Forza Motorsport 7 is not unique; last year, for example, the company stopped digital sales of Forza Horizon 3. Horizon 3 appeared in 2016 and also has a successor with Forza Horizon 4. The striking difference, however, is that Motorsport 7 does not yet have a successor. Developer Turn 10 Studios is working on a successor, although a release date has never been mentioned. A Forza Horizon 5 will be released this November.
