Digital final exams temporarily canceled
Some of the digital exams in secondary education will be canceled for the time being, after exams of 200 students were declared invalid due to malfunctioning software. It is unclear when the exams will continue.
The Examinations Board has reported this in a letter to secondary schools. According to the Board, digital exams have been ‘restless’ in the past year. For this reason, the final exams that take place at a fixed time are temporarily not taken via the computer, the Board writes.
This year there were problems at 20 schools, for which exams of 200 candidates had to be canceled in whole or in part. The College believes that number is high. In addition, the bugs led to concentration problems, for example because exams ended abruptly.
The software was not stable enough. The Flash applications with which the exams were administered led to malfunctions and the exam software did not work well with school ICT networks. According to the College, some schools found that ‘the central processor unit in the school’s network has been flooded’, but what this means is unclear. The College could not be reached for comment.
