DICE Will Address Rubberbanding Issues in Battlefield 4

Swedish Battlefield developer DICE will address the rubberbanding issues in Battlefield 4 by upgrading its servers. “We’re not happy with server performance, and reducing player lag is a top priority,” EA said.

On the official Battlefield blog, the report is made by an employee of publisher Electronic Arts. They are said to be aware of the rubberbanding issues that occur in 64-player matches. EA does not provide an indication of when these problems will be resolved. The problems started with the release five months ago.

Rubberbanding is a phenomenon that occurs in situations where pings are high. Players then walk through a map, but are returned to where they were after a few seconds. The name refers to the effect that the player appears to be tied to elastic when bouncing back. Especially people with the console versions of the game are complaining about this. In addition to rubberbanding, many players report that the tick rate of Battlefield servers is too low. That is the frequency with which a server refreshes the game world. EA and DICE have not yet made any statements about this.
