Dice has announced that the previously implemented “time to kill” changes in Battlefield V will be rolled back in full. The developer recently said it was going to add versions of the old time to kill to all game modes, but that too is now gone.

Dice reports in a post on Reddit that as of Tuesday afternoon, the recently made changes to the ttk will be reset to the original values of the Battlefield V release date. The developer says it made this decision after listening to player feedback and ” viewing statistical data’. Dice wanted to compromise by introducing a Core playlist for all game modes this week. This would allow players to choose the old or the new ttk for each mode, but that plan is now also in the trash.

The company behind the Battlefield series reiterates that the recently implemented time to kill adjustments were intended to make the shooter more accessible to new players, while also providing experienced players with an experience with their preferred playstyle. Dice admits they didn’t handle this properly and experienced players didn’t ask for the changes, but they were implemented anyway.

The original time to kill values in Battlefield V meant that opponents could be felled relatively quickly without the need for a large hail of bullets. That was adjusted a few days ago, so that with most weapons roughly an extra bullet was needed to take out an opponent. This change was met with much criticism, especially from experienced players. This would make the game slower and less dynamic.

Dice also reports that in the past week it has gained more clarity about player complaints about the time to death. This term is partly related to the ttk and refers to the time a player experiences until he is felled. It sometimes happened that players went down within a second or even within a frame, when in reality they were under fire for longer by their attackers and were therefore not eliminated as quickly. Exactly what Dice will do about this and when improvements can be expected in this regard has not been disclosed.
