Dice returns time to kill adjustments for Battlefield V

Dice announces that the previously implemented ‘time to kill’ changes in Battlefield V will be reversed in its entirety. The developer recently said that it would add versions of the old time to kill to all game modes, but that is now off course.

Dice reports in a message on Reddit that from Tuesday afternoon the recent changes to the ttk are reset to the original values of the release date of Battlefield V. The developer says it has made this decision after listening to feedback from players and ‘viewing static data’. Dice wanted to compromise by introducing a Core play list for all game modes this week. This would allow players to choose the old or the new ttk for each mode, but that plan is now also in the trash.

The company behind the Battlefield series reiterates that the recently implemented time-to-kill adjustments were intended to to make shooting game more accessible to new players, while at the same time offering experienced players an experience with the style they want. Dice admits that they did not handle this properly and that experienced players did not ask for the changes, but that they were still being implemented.

The original time to kill values in Battlefield V caused opponents to be hit relatively quickly without the need for a big bullseye. That was changed a few days ago, so that for most weapons roughly a bullet was needed to eliminate an opponent. This adjustment could count on a lot of criticism, especially from experienced players. The game would thus have become slower and less dynamic.

Dice also reports that in the past week it has gained more clarity about the complaints from players about the time to death . This term is partly related to the ttk and concerns the time that a player experiences until he is felled. It sometimes happened that players went down within a second, while in reality they were attacked by their assailants for a longer period of time. What Dice is going to do exactly here and when improvements can be expected, has not been announced.
