DICE postpones introduction of Battlefield V microtransactions due to bug
The planned microtransactions in Battlefield V have been postponed due to bugs in the Company Coin system. That’s one of the game’s two currencies. Until those bugs are fixed, DICE does not want to make additional money from the game. There is no date for that yet.
Community manager Jeff Braddock lets you know in a tweet. He says DICE is still working on the Company Coin problem. Currently, players who have reached the highest rank in the game will no longer earn Company Coins, although they are intended to. The studio should not only fix that problem, but ensure that affected players still receive the correct amounts of Company Coin.
Braddock cannot give a date for the bug fix and therefore also not for the introduction of microtransactions. Previously, it looked like the launch would take place on January 18, but that didn’t happen.
Unlike previous games, with Battlefield V, all additional content is free for all players; there is no season pass, which is referred to as BF Premium Pass, and no DLC packs are sold separately either. New maps and game modes will be given to everyone for free to avoid fragmentation of the player base. Money is then raised through microtransactions for BCoins instead. This buys cosmetic items, which do not provide any gameplay benefits.
