Diagram shows AMD Navi 23 GPU with 8GB Gddr6 for Tesla infotainment system
A diagram that has appeared on the internet and allegedly came from Tesla shows an AMD Navi 23 GPU that is believed to be part of an infotainment system. The diagram mentions the presence of 8GB Gddr6-vram.
The Navi 23 block diagram contains the name Tesla Motors and has been put online by Patrick Schur, who more often put correct information about upcoming technology online. November last year said Schur already that Tesla wanted to use the Navi 23. The image shows that the gpu can have four Gddr6 chips of 16Gbit from Samsung via a 128-bit memory bus, for a total of 8GB Gddr6. According to VideoCardz, the memory bandwidth is 224GB/s. In addition, it can be seen that the video chip can connect with two DisplayPort interfaces and HDMI 1.4.
The GPU could be used for the infotainment system of the upcoming Plaid variants of the Model S and Model X from Tesla. According to the car manufacturer, this infotainment system will have 10Tflops of GPU computing power, comparable to a PlayStation 5 and therefore sufficient for gaming. Tesla CEO Elon Musk emphasizes that the system can run Cyberpunk 2077.
Navi 23 would be an AMD’s RDNA2-based mobile GPU, which according to Patrick Schur can be made available in variants with tgps, or total graphics power, of 65W, 80W and 90W.
