Diablo IV beta spotted in Battle.net code
Configuration files of the upcoming Diablo IV beta have been found in the code of the Battle.net launcher. This, in combination with a recent tattoo action, may indicate that Blizzard will release a test version of the upcoming RPG in the near future.
Several references are made in the configuration files to “fenris”, the code name Activision Blizzard uses internally for Diablo IV. Among other things, the code “selector_display_name”:”fenris#FENRIS_NAME_BETA” explicitly refers to the Diablo IV beta. With the files erased Wowhead even calling up the game’s installation screen, even though the game cannot actually be downloaded or installed.
Although Blizzard has not yet announced an official date for the Diablo IV beta, it is certain that there will be a test version, according to the official website of the game. In addition, the developer organized a promotion at the end of June, Hell’s Ink, in which free Diablo tattoos are given away in collaboration with select tattoo parlors. Participants can earn early access to a beta of Diablo IV. They also receive a free digital copy of the game. Hell’s Ink will run through September 10, which probably indicates that the beta won’t kick off until then.
Diablo IV itself also has no official release date yet. The game has been delayed several times and will be released in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
