Devolo has announced the Magic 1 WiFi mini. The smallest adapter from the Magic range from the German manufacturer extends a powerline network via the socket with a fixed network connection and at the same time functions as an access point for mesh WiFi.

The new Magic 1 WiFi mini supports the G.hn specification for home networks. According to devolo, this enables transfer speeds of up to 1200Mbit/s via the electricity grid. The adapter has both an Ethernet port and wireless network access via WiFi.

The adapter is an addition to the Magic 1 LAN adapter, which is connected directly to the router in the house. When the Magic 1 WiFi mini is plugged into any power outlet, the adapters automatically create an encrypted connection via auto-pairing. The Devolo Home Network app or the Cockpit software for Windows and macOS can be used for subsequent installation and configuration.

The Magic 1 WiFi mini has a suggested retail price of 69.90 euros. A Starter Kit in a bundle with a Magic 1 LAN adapter costs 99.90 euros; the Multiroom Kit with two WiFi minis and a Magic 1 LAN adapter changes hands for 159.90 euros.
