Development of Marvel MMO from creators DC Universe Online has been halted
Development of the Marvel MMO, which Daybreak Games was working on, has been halted. Parent company Enad Global 7 wants the studio to focus more on their existing games, such as The Lord of The Rings Online and DC Universe Online.
Enad Global 7 reports that it has pulled the plug on the project following an evaluation. “Based on the re-evaluation of the risk profile, the size of the investment and the long-term strategy, the board of directors has decided to adjust the development priorities”, writes the Swedish company. Enad Global 7 had invested 500 million Swedish kronor in the development of the MMO. That money will now be deployed to The Lord of The Rings Online and DC Universe Online to work on major updates previously announced.
That the studio was working on a Marvel MMO was announced in a presentation to investors of Enad Global 7 in November last year. Dimensional Ink Studios, a division of Daybreak, went to work on the MMO. Little substantive information about the game was known, other than that the MMO would be “a long-term project.” The MMO would be released in 2023 at the earliest.
