Development board with AMD Ryzen V1000 and Vega 8 GPU coming at the end of this year
UDOO will produce the Bolt V3 and V8, development boards with AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 processors that have the Vega 3 and Vega 8 GPUs respectively. The maker boards should be released in December.
UDOO had set itself the goal of starting production of the Bolt development boards as soon as the company raised $85,599 through Kickstarter. That amount was received in four hours. The Bolt should, among other things, distinguish itself with its Ryzen processor with a relatively powerful GPU, which makes it possible to run current games with respectable frame rates.
The Bolt V3 contains an AMD Ryzen V1202B, which combines two cores at 2.3GHz with the Vega 3 GPU. UDOO is offering these for early birds for 196 euros and delivery should start in December. After the first batch, this version will cost 213 euros. There will also be a Bolt V8 with Ryzen V1605B quadcore at 2GHz, with a more powerful Vega 8 GPU. This has a starting price of 265 euros.
The boards support up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and have 32GB EMMC storage memory, which can be expanded via the SATA connection. In addition, there is a duo of USB-c connections with displayport Alternate Mode, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface and HDMI 1.4 and 2.0A. The connections can be used to control up to four 4k screens. According to the makers, the difference with a compact PC is that there are gpio headers and that the board is compatible with the Arduino platform.
