Developers want to release small e-ink screens with widgets

Latvian developers are working on small screens that can display custom widgets. They hope that the devices will be placed in every place in the house. The developers have started a Kickstarter campaign to realize their plan.

The device is called Displio and mainly consists of a 2.7″ e-ink screen with WiFi connection. Thanks to the internet connection, it can retrieve information from various sources and display it in a widget. For example, there are adjustable screens for the weather , a calendar, Facebook and PayPal.

The dimensions of Displo are 6.3 by 8.2 by 2.8 centimeters. The device has a battery of unknown capacity. Its energy level can be consulted with a separate smartphone app for Android or iOS. With that app you can also install widgets on the notification tool.

Displio will be available in different flavors, provided the campaign has enough backers. He appears in seven colors, namely white, black, red, blue, green, yellow and gray. In addition, two casings can be chosen: plastic and wood. Those prices start at 79 and 119 dollars respectively.
