Developers can now determine the time of Steam sale themselves
Developers can now put their Steam games on sale themselves. In addition to the option to participate in the sales that Valve organizes itself, developers can now decide for themselves when, for how long and at how much discount their games go on sale.
Developers can indicate up to 2 months in advance whether they want to participate in a sale scheduled by Valve or whether they want to set up their own sale. A custom sale can last up to two weeks.
The news comes out via Reddit user Sharkiller. He took a screenshot of the private Steamworks Development Forum and posted it on the Reddit forum. Doug Lombardi, Valve’s director of marketing, told Polygon that this will help developers “better coordinate their sales with their own events, announcements and major updates to their products.”
