Developer wants to re-release Gex platform games from the nineties
Developer Limited Run Games wants to re-release the three Gex platform games on PC, Switch and PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The three games focus on a gecko that travels to the Media Dimension. The games were released between 1995 and 1999.
The developer uses its Carbon Engine to be able to port the old games to modern hardware. A release date has not yet been announced, but it is clear that the games will be released for the Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series consoles. The game will also be available for purchase via Steam.
The first Gex was a sidescrolling platform game, but the two later games could be played in 3D. The developer of the games was Crystal Dynamics. Square Enix is involved in the games as a trademark rights holder. In the game, the quick-witted gecko Gex must escape from the Media Dimension, which is in Gex’s TV. Rez, the ruler of the Media Dimension, wants to be able to use Gex as a mascot. In later games the game also gains vehicles for Gex to use.
