Developer version Firefox for Android can install any add-on in a roundabout way
The developer version of Firefox for Android can install any add-on starting Wednesday, but it will have to be done in a roundabout way. Users must create a Collection of add-ons, overwrite and enter the number from the url. Anyone wishing to install add-ons outside of officially supported add-ons must first create a collection with their own account at addons.mozilla.org. Next, in the Nightly version of Firefox for Android, users have to triple tap the Firefox logo in the About Firefox menu in the settings. Then a debug menu appears with the option to install a collection of add-ons, says Mozilla, after that it is necessary to enter the userid and the name of the collection, after which the browser closes itself and when opened install the add-ons from the collection. That detour was not necessary in the old Firefox version, as all add-ons could be installed there by clicking Add-Ons in the Settings menu. Mozilla had previously promised that support for all extensions in the Nightly version was coming. This is mainly so that developers can test whether their add-on works with the new version of Firefox for Android. The browser has a new engine and interface since this summer. In addition, support for add-ons was lost.
