Developer stuffs Android Nougat on HTC HD2

The day you knew would come is finally here. A developer has crammed Android 7.0 on an HTC HD2 and also got the antique device working. The bad news: that’s about all.

Only the screen, WiFi and sound work on the HD2, otherwise nothing works on the phone, developer macs18max reports to XDA-Developers. He did not put the firmware online. Since the software is not suitable for everyday use, he did not post the screenshots in a new thread, but in a post under previous firmware.

The HD2 is a museum piece and dates from 2009. HTC released the phone with Windows Mobile 6.5 and the device never received a major update from the manufacturer. However, an enthusiastic community of developers made sure of that. Windows Phone 7 ran on it through all kinds of tricks and there were experiments to put Windows RT, Windows Phone 8, MeeGo and Ubuntu on the phone. In addition, just about every Android version can be flashed on the phone.
