Developer raises money to create space shooter Everspace 2
Rockfish Games has reached its target of $450,000 with its Kickstarter campaign for Everspace 2. The game has been in development for some time and should be released at the end of 2021. People who support the project will have access to an alpha version from April 2020.
At the time of writing, the counter of the crowdfunding campaign stands at more than 464,000 euros. This means that the target of 450,000 euros has just been achieved, the project will end at midnight. According to the developers, the new space action game with RPG elements will include more loot and perks, better graphics and more spaceships for players to choose from.
Everspace 2 has been in development for several years now. The makers say that the concept has been fixed since 2017 and they already showed a trailer in August. If everything goes according to plan, the game will be released in the third quarter of 2021. People who pledge at least thirty euros will get access to the alpha version in April next year. A closed beta will follow in July and the studio plans to release an Early Access version in September.
The German Rockfish Games also wants to make a console version of the game, which should appear six months after the release of the PC version. The developer also has plans for a major paid expansion, which will be released a year after release. The developer does not mention VR support. The first part had support for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
The first Everspace game came out in 2017. That game was also made with the help of a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. At the time, the makers raised 420,000 euros. For the development of the new game, the developer is getting help from Streamline Studios and Volta. With the help of those studios, the game world of Everspace 2 should get bigger and look better graphically.
