Developer puts Mac OS 7.5.5 on Apple Watch
It’s small, illegible and, moreover, clumsy, but what’s the point? Thanks to Watch OS 2, a developer has been able to equip his Apple Watch with Mac OS 7.5.5, an operating system from almost nineteen years ago.
To get System 7 on the Apple Watch, developer Nick Lee used the emulator Mini vMac. He shared the video on Twitter. The video shows that the operating system boots on the Apple Watch, but the developer shows little of the controls. That control probably also does not work via the touchscreen of the Apple Watch.
The interface is also small. On the Watch’s not-too-large screen, it takes up only a fraction of the space, while System 7 ran on Macs with much larger screens. Watch OS 2 allows running native apps on the Watch, making this emulator a possibility as well.
