Developer puts Android 6.0 ROM for LG G4 online
Those who want to install Android 6.0 on their LG G4 no longer have to wait for the official software update to be rolled out. A developer on the XDA forum has released an Android 6.0 ROM that can be installed with the device’s bootloader unlocked.
According to user autoprime of the XDA forum, which has released the software, it is a stock ROM from LG itself. Users can install the Android 6.0 software if they have passed the bootloader protection and installed the alternative recovery software TWRP version 2.8.7 or higher. If you do not like the software, it is possible to downgrade to the previous Android installation.
Since it is a ROM from LG itself, users will lose their root access after installation. An alternate version may be released later that will force root access. Developer autoprime further points out that the software is not yet fully operational; for example, it is possible that notifications from some apps do not come through and LG’s own screen unlock method Knock Code is not yet available.
The software posted online is likely to be released soon as an official update that will be distributed over-the-air to owners of the G4. LG previously announced that it would start the rollout, so that the software can start dripping on users’ devices at any moment.
